Hopeite EDS plot

Notes: Hopeite is rare at Palermo.
A mineralogist friend knowledgeable in Palermo phosphates has examined this specimen and the EDS plot. In noting the high Mn content, he suggested the possibility that this may be a new mineral. A new (fall 2011) zinc phosphate mineral species with Palermo as the type locality is due to be announced shortly.
